A representative selection of printable sample reports produced using the Sherwood Test Series are shown below along with a description for each one. If you click on the screen shot of the report you will be able to see a larger version. If you wish to print a copy of the report you should click on the PDF icon. You will need to ensure you have Adobe Acrobat reader on your PC (most computers already have this installed).

The key feature of the Sherwood Test Series is that short comparative individual and group reports quickly enable you to see how learners perform against nationally recognised standards and other learners on the same courses.

If you find the concept of norm based reporting difficult to grasp at first - don’t worry many people do! To help you gain a better understanding we recommend you print the sample reports and then visit the Norm-based? section of the site.

You are strongly advised to see the full range of reports within the context of the particular test by visiting the Our tests section of the website.

SHERWOOD ABILITY SCREEN
Individual Screening Report:
Comparison against Basic Skills and Entry
This report details an individual’s performance in the six areas of Literacy and Numeracy the SAS assesses compared with a selected comparison group. Remember when you compare a learner against a low ability comparison group their relative performance will typically be much higher. This will be indicated by their plot being over to the right. Average performance for a typical Basic Skills & Entry student is marked by the outlined circles in the middle of the scale.

Printable copy of sample reportYou should pay close attention to the time taken as this is together with the number correct is a good overall indicator of ability.

SHERWOOD ABILITY SCREEN
Individual Screening Report - Interpretation:
Comparison against Key Skills Level 2 & Intermediate
To aid in interpretation an optional interpretative report makes use of the same data as outlined above but simplifies interpretation. This involves using traffic light colours to indicate the severity of the learners need relative to the comparison group you have chosen. These range from Green, Amber though to Red which shows the most urgent need.

As Sherwood tests use standard psychometric principles we can convert our scores to other standard scales. In this report performance is also interpreted as “above Printable copy of sample reportaverage” though to “well above average” with the midpoint being average. The standard A, B, C... grade system is also used.

SHERWOOD ABILITY SCREEN
Exact Level Report
This report tells you the exact level a learner is performing at in relation to national standards. The learners highest ability level in each area is shown for both number correct (power) and forPrintable copy of sample report speed of answering. This enables you to quickly see if they are capable of coping with a course

SHERWOOD ABILITY SCREEN
Summary Screening Report by Course:
Key Skills Level 3 & Advanced
Here when comparing against a higher level group we can see that only one student is clearly capable of coping and that the student focused on in the example reports is just below the level you would expect. In this case you may decide to offer her additional support and accept her on the course, or you may suggest a slightly lower level course.

When looking at group reports it is useful to look at percentile ranks and raw power (P) and time taken scores (S). Remember (P) is a combination of number correct and time taken and (S) is a pure speed measure. If (S) is higher than (P) this can suggest that the student may be randomly answering and just “clicking through” the test. Generally (S)peed should be roughly at the same point.

When working with percentiles remember these are NOT percent correct correct figures. The indicate the percentage of the norm comparison group the student has performed BETTER than. So if a percentile is 54 then you can say that the student has performed better than 54% of the Level 3 comparison group. Percentiles change as you alter the comparison group Printable copy of sample reportand should NOT be used to compare across students where reports are produced against one or more norm group.

Individual Screening Report (page 2):
This section of the report covers the four main sub-tests which assess:

  • Cognitive: Time Sharing; Information Ordering; Perceptual Speed; Deductive Reasoning
  • Theory: Taught (GCSE level) & Practical (hobbyist)
  • Applications: Word Processing; Spreadsheets & Databases
  • Internet: Email & Web Browser

Performance in this section of the report is given relative to that of a chosen comparison group. In this case against a specialist school Printable copy of sample reportintake. This enables you to compare “like with like” to gain an unbiased insight into ability in ICT

SHERWOOD TECHNOLOGY APTITUDE TEST
Summary Screening Report by Course
Group reports let you compare a pupil against a norm group to establish their relative ability levels in overall cognitive ability, use of common applications and internet use. More powerfully they also let you compare across their peers who are registered on the same course of study or grouping code that you have assigned.

Here a prospective pupil is compared with two others. This gives a good impression of their ability level relative to the comparison group. It also gives their relative position within the course group to give Printable copy of sample reportyou two valuable measures. The same raw scores and times are used as displayed on Individual Reports

SHERWOOD TASK APPROACH PREFERENCES INVENTORY
Summary Report by Grouping Code:
This report is extremely powerful as it allows you to compare all candidates assigned to a grouping code against a normative sample. It also lets you easily compare between candidates. Each candidate is shown on a separate row. Quickly see which candidates have preferred ways of approaching tasks which are outside the norm.

This report is similar to the individual screening report summary in that extremes are marked by the red areas and commonality by the green and amber areas.
